OUR STREETS

The County has notified us that the new construction of Pointe West will begin on the morning of TUES, Jan 19th....
If you live on PW, pls. beware of this...They are planning on doing only one section at a time, both sides of the street....They will then fill in what they have removed during the day so you should have access to your driveway at the end of the day...Basically what this means is that only sections of the street will be done each day and if you live in the section that they are doing that day, you will not have access to your driveway until they get done working that day... Everyone else should be able to get to their house by coming in at one end of the street or the other... I hope this makes sense to you... They have started on the Circle at the Trace and will work their way over and then down Pointe West...
AND THEN THERE IS THE "BIG BOY"

This appears to be a good time to refresh our memories with what the County has planned for the future of the rest of our streets...
7/20/09
From our County Administrator
Based on the most recent evaluation of all County roads, Pointe West made the list to be rebuilt this year. Depending on the amount of the available funding allocated for the next fiscal year, Vantage Trace should be on the list for the following fiscal year. Vantage Circle and Pointe East are probably several years out and that will depend on available funding and how these road(s) compare to other County roads on the next evaluation. If the streets in your subdivision were asphalt, it would be a much simpler task. However, because they are concrete and do not have a normal sub-base, when the roads are repaired, the County is going to have to remove the concrete, go down about 10 to 12 inches and rebuild the sub-base and then put down a layer of asphalt. It is a much more costly process than a typical resurfacing that we do on the vast majority of the roads in the County.

NOTE
A little note here for those of you who may be walking around our community wondering what that strange, unfamiliar noise you hear is.... It's everyone's electric meter going whizzz as it speeds around during our cold snap.....For those of you who may not realize it, we do NOT have heat pumps in our A/C units.... For heat we have electric coils, similar to what is in a toaster.....This is called "Resistance Heating" and is probably the most expensive type of heat available....If you don't believe me, wait until you get your next electric bill.....During a normal winter here that is not a problem since we usually only run the heat to take off the chill on a cold morning....
