VANTAGE POINTE NEWSLETTER FOR NOVEMBER,
2009
BOARDWALK
The monthly meeting of the Homeowners'
Association was held this week without a quorum present.
The problem of getting a quorum for a meeting is that we need at least 49
homes to be represented at a meeting for business to be legally transacted.
So, for the second month in a row we were unable to vote on the re-surfacing
of the shuffleboard courts. This is a problem that each and every home
owner needs to share ownership for, as this is your association. Attendance
at meetings should be part of your responsibility since you are the people
whose funds are being managed by the Association's officers. Please
mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 8th at 7:00 PM for the next
Association meeting.
A reminder to residents to check your
sprinklers to be sure that they are uncovered and able to rise up out of the
ground to do the job of watering the lawn properly, especially during the
dry period we seem to be in once again.
Highlands Co. Road & Bridge has assured
us that the repaving of Pointe West is still on schedule to start the end of
2009.
Next month we will be reviewing bids for
landscaping upgrades along the Vantage trace entry lane, due to the plants
lost from the freezes of last winter. At least 2 bids have been received
with one more yet to arrive.
After a brief discussion at this month's
meeting, Walt Becker received permission to pursue the collection of
signatures for the purpose of making Vantage Pointe a "golf cart friendly
community". In order for this to happen, signatures are required
from every homeowner.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Vantage Pointe
family and welcome back to our early arrivals from the land of cooler
temperatures.

AROUND TOWN
As reported a year ago,
the property in front of Home Depot is being cleared for a new ABC Store.
They are probably still a year away from opening, but it is started.
According to the paper, the new store will be much larger than the present
store. Once the new one is opened, the old store on the south end will
close.
SAMS STORE IS STILL ON
THE HORIZON. WE UNDERSTAND THAT IT WILL BE STARTED SOMETIME IN MID 2010.
HEADS UP EVERYONE,
ESPECIALLY FOR THE UPCOMING HOLIDAYS! WORTH THINKING ABOUT!
WARNING FROM THE
POLICE
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE
BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE - NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS
You walk to your car and
get inside. You start the engine and shift into reverse. When you look
into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a
piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into
Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or
whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of
your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your
car and take off. They practically mow you down as the speed off in your
car.
And guess what, ladies?
No doubt your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car,
your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your identity
are now compromised.

neighbors with health problems in your thoughts and prayers.
