E-mailing without disclosing your address book.....
Have you ever noticed that sometimes (usually) you will receive an e-mail with a dozen or so addresses at the top which not only reveals who rec'd the message but also gives away the addresses you have in your computer....When this message is forwarded time & time again, hard telling who ends up with your addresses.....
Not only that, but you are adding to the "garbage" received, and when a person prints it out, they have all of that "garbage" in the printout....
On the other hand, you have rec'd from savvy e-mailers, messages which when you go to forward it, say "UNDISCLOSED RECIPIENT"
This the preferred way to send your messages and couldn't be much simpler....
Instead of putting the addresses in the
TO: line, put the recipient's address in the
Bcc: line, that means BLIND
CARBON COPY.....A
hangover from the days when Secretaries did all of the correspondence... It
means that the recipient will not know who else received a copy as opposed to
Cc: which reveals who else received a copy....
Another caveat applies here, depending upon your ISP (Internet Service Provider).... For example Outlook Express which is used by you EMBARQ users, you do not need to put anything in the TO: line...However, JUNO users and I don't know who else need to have an address in the TO: line.... I used to put my own name in the TO: line and then others still would not know to whom else it had been sent....
It is easy enough to check out.....The next time you send a message, put all the recipient's addresses in the Bcc: line if it won't go, it will tell you that you need an address in the TO: line.... This all may sound confusing but when you go to do it, you will see how simple it is.... All you are doing is putting the addresses on a different line....
