TIP #4

Finding, Saving and Using Animated Objects
Inserting Pictures and Animation into E-mails

This is a fun way to spice up your e-mails....I had asked a friend how to insert animations, a week later he said he had created a monster (me, by showing me how).....

The first thing you should do is create a folder as explained in TIP #3....

Name the folder Animation, this will give you a place to store the animations you save and you will know where to go to retrieve them....

The easiest way to collect Animation is from an e-mail that you receive that has them.... We all get them periodically.... Simply Right click on the animation, that will bring up a menu, click on save as, this will bring up another menu....Click on the little arrow at the top and then click on your Animation folder that you had previously created... Click on SAVE, you have now saved that animation into your folder where you may now go and retrieve it at any time....

In TIP #3, I said I would explain how to insert  pictures and animation into an e-mail, This is it.... Right click on the "loving couple" above and save it into your Animation folder....
Next, go into your e-mail and start to write a letter to yourself...... Put your cursor where you want the picture to appear...Click on insert in the tool bar at the top, then picture.....
This should bring up a small menu, click on Browse, this will bring up another menu, click on the arrow at the top, find the folder Animation or a folder where you have stored a picture that you are looking for....

When you go into the folder, you may or may not be able to see the pictures...They may be just listed with a long number which doesn't mean a thing to you.....Don't panic..... At the top in the toolbar you will see what I guess could best be described as a calendar with colored squares in it..... Click on it and it will bring up a menu.... Click on Thumbnails and it will bring up small pictures (called thumbnails, duh!!!) of what is in the folder....You may then click on the thumbnail you want, click on Open at the bottom, next click on OK and it should appear in your message, where had left your cursor...

Basically you are going thru the steps that you would to do an attachment but instead you are inserting it directly into your E-mail.... AOL does things differently, I believe they click on a small camera icon to do an insert.... You may use this same procedure to insert pictures into a letter or document such as WORD...

Obtaining Animation from the internet....

This is where the fun begins... Animated characters are called
ANIMATED GIFS... By doing a Google search on animated gifs, you will bring up thousands of sites offering free animated gifs....There are a few that want to charge you, forget about them, free is still the best price.... Scroll thru them and when you see something you like, simply Right click, do a save as, find your Animation folder and Save... You can then keep searching for more gifs...The sites differ in what they have and you can spend a lot of time entertaining yourself and finding different gifs to save....

To narrow down your search you can Google subjects by typing in
Animated gifs, (subject)....

For example: animated gifs, birthday could bring up things such as:

animated gifs, thank you

animated gifs, congratulations

You may save any of the above items if you like to give you a start.....
You may use subjects such as, signatures, alphabets, names, get well, holidays, etc
It may seem complicated at first but after you do it a few times it will be automatic and easy..... Have fun....

If you want to forward this tip, click on your mouse and drag it over everything to highlight it...Then hold down the CTRL key and depress "C'..... This will copy  all of the text..... You may then go into the "write" mode of an e-mail that you are composing and use CTRL "V", this will paste the text into your e-mail that you are writing.... You can use this method on most items that you want to copy and then paste somewhere else....
