Message from President Kelly:

The holiday season is upon us and along with it, all the stress that accompanies it.  A big “thank you”  goes out to all the residents who have joined in a holiday spirit to decorate their properties and the clubhouse for the Christmas season.  Don't forget to stop and enjoy the many activities of the season.

Welcome back to many snowbirds.  It was a wonderful sight to finally see a full house for our monthly meeting.  A quorum was present and a motion passed to resurface our shuffleboard courts and bring them into good condition for competition in the future.  The NIDY Sports Construction Co. of Sanford, FL. will be responsible for the work.

We are still waiting for a firm date for reconstruction of Pointe West by the Highlands County road crews.

Jim Kolp has completed the maintenance work on all the sprinklers along Vantage Trace, replacing three broken heads while adjusting all the protective blocks to the correct heights.  Thanks, Jim!  We suspect that someone may have driven over them while they were actively working on Wednesday nights.  Please be mindful of this as it is very costly to keep repairing them.

Lastly, the board has selected Robbins' Nursery of Sebring to update the front beds at the entrance to Vantage Trace off Thunderbird.  After the new plants are in place, micro irrigation will be added to the plants as part of the project.

It's time to pass on some safety concerns that we all need to address in the community.  Walkers, including pet walkers, should be on the LEFT side of the road walking facing oncoming traffic.  All bicyclists should be on the right side of the road riding with the normal traffic flow (not facing traffic).  Please remember to carry a visible light or wear reflective clothing if you walk after dark or early in the morning before sunrise.  Pet owners are reminded that all pets are to be leashed at all times and that you are responsible for cleaning up after your pet no matter where you are within the Vantage Pointe community.

Just a reminder, our pool is for use by residents and overnight guests only.

If you are planning on updating your landscaping, please remember to leave at least five feet between plantings at full growth so that the lawn maintenance staff can complete their job without problems.

A new homeowner's meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 20, at 7:00 P.M. at the clubhouse.  This will be an opportunity for new homeowners to ask questions and to become more familiar with the rules and regulations of Vantage Pointe.  Renters are welcome also so that they may become better acquainted with our community.

E-mail/address updates needed.   It is time for revising and updating the annual directory.  Please send any changes to either Gail Magisano or Sunny Fuller no later than January 2, 2010.  Gail's e-mail is: ayla177@yahoo.com

UPCOMING BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS  At the January HOA meeting, we will be making nominations for three 3 year terms on the Board of Directors.   Members whose terms are expiring are Don Dewey, Sunny Fuller, and Ernie Kelly.

Many thanks to Don and Edie Dewey for a wonderful job publishing the newsletter and super pictures of the community get-togethers over the past eight months.   A lot of time and effort go into each issue and although it sometimes seems like a thankless job, it is certain that many of the Vantage Pointe neighbors really appreciate and enjoy reading it.

From Jim Curtis: “I wish to thank all the folks in the Village of Vantage Pointe that kept me in their prayers and thoughts during my long term hospitalization.  I am so appreciative to all you folks who were so  kind to Jane.   I thank you all for your cards, visits, and, most important, your prayers.  It made my stay tolerable.  I was completely overwhelmed by your response when I first returned to the Clubhouse.  Jane and I can’t thank you folks enough.   We are so lucky to have chosen the Village of Vantage Pointe as our home and to have you all as our friends.  Merry Christmas to everyone from the Curtises.”

Thanks to Bud and Shirley Lemke who are organizing donations of food staples for needy families.  Leave your contribution in the designated box in the clubhouse before December 17, and they’ll deliver it to the Salvation Army.

Irrigation  If you are having a problem with your lawn sprinklers, Jim Kolb is the neighbor to call, 471-0927, but please do not phone him before 9:00 A.M.  Make arrangements to be on hand when he arrives to help you.

Holiday baking?  Don’t forget there is a cupboard of spices at the clubhouse for home-owners’ use.  Put what you need in the little plastic bags supplied, and save yourself the trouble, space and expense of stocking your own supply.

Child Car Seatsthere are two that were donated to VP by the Sebring Police Dept. a few years ago.  They are stored in the upper space of the shed behind the clubhouse.  If you have youngsters flying here for a visit, please feel free to use them.
